COLO SPRGS, CO (Oct. 21, 2022) – Rylan Kissell, a student-athlete at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and Katie Zaun, a student athlete at Texas Christian University, have earned two bronze medals together at the 2022 Rifle/Pistol World Championships in Cairo, Egypt.
The pair first won bronze in the 50m Rifle Prone Junior Mixed Team event. Kissell and Zaun beat the Indian Junior team in the bronze medal match Oct. 14.
The American duo went on to earn another smallbore rifle title in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Junior Mixed Team event. They earned their medals after beating a Hungarian team in the bronze medal match.
Kissell additionally won the World Champion title in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Junior Men’s Team event with Braden Peiser and Gavin Barnick. Kissell’s medal count doesn’t stop there, though. He won bronze medal alongside Scott Rockett and Benjamin Salas in the 10m Air Rifle Junior Men’s Team event.
Zaun also competed in more than mixed team events. The Buffalo, North Dakota native placed fifth in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Junior Women’s event by beating out China who placed sixth.
Kissell, a Littleton, Colroado, native, also competed in the 10m Air Rifle Junior Mixed Team with Camryn Camp where they finished in fourth place.
